How does the organization address concerns such as the type and size of bandwidth and the capability of implementing web 2.0 tools?

First it is important to understand what bandwidth is. Bandwidth refers to the data transmission rate over a given channel and is largely responsible for the user experience of the internet (UoPX Writer Network, 2011). When the bandwidth is higher video streams quicker, web pages will load faster, and annoying gaps in audio are reduced.

Assuming that not all users are “created” equal, University of Phoenix has implemented technology strategies reflecting user assess diversity. The plan calls for regional server locations with outside region redundancy "backups" that kick into operation should a failure or overload occur at the regional level (Engle, 2011). User differences is also looked at giving servers maximized access in different locations, bandwidth, and speed. This shows user will not need to deal with settling due to limitations on technology being over or under limits.

University of Phoenix is active in the Web 2.0 arena. A more recent implementation is Facebook for student’s social interaction. This gives students a chance to connect or network with one another to enhance his or her learning career. UoP is continuously looking for cutting edge technologies to keep up with student’s needs and wants.

This the third part of our discussion about the technology employed by University of Phoenix to support adult education and training. 1. I love the fact that University of Phoenix has finally made an app for the iPhone to allow students to attend class. I find this useful as I am able to attend classes while on vacation without needing to pay those expensive fees for internet. My phone has that capability so I use it to the fullest. I do realize this is not a Web 2.0 feature; however, I feel it is important to recognize this feature. As soon as the University makes this app for other phones I feel students will become happier. The only thing with our phones and bandwidth is our phones may load slower because there are so many people using their phones in one area. This can be frustrating but UoP has done everything to ensure their product is ready and user friendly.

  3. I have to admit that I am not a Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace fan but I know these sites assist with keeping us connected. This is an important aspect for UoP in assisting students collaborate. Many of us do not have much worries concerning connectivity and bandwidth because of the advancements ISPs have made with service; however, some people connect through dial-up connections. Do you believe this creates issues for these students? I believe the small file sizes for downloading resource materials assists with mitigating these issues. What do you think?
